107 international bibliography cooperation and works together with the National Library in issues concerning material that is published in Sámi in F inland. The Crossing Library, Jutaava kirjasto , is a new, Sámi form of library work in the Sámi Area. The planning phase lasted for a few years, and the activities were launched in the spring of 2012. The employee of the Crossing Library is a Sámi -speaking cultural producer, who does not have to have training in the field of library. The project has built networks with Sámi libraries and players in the Sámi Area and cooperates with the Sámi Special Library. It is the task of the Sámi Special Library to ma intain and develop the Sámi collection and the communications, information services and content production linked with this collection, while the Crossing Library is meant to plan and carry out new, Sámi methods and forms of operation in the Sámi language in the sphere of the library together with the public libraries of the Sámi Area. As concerns promoting the Sámi language and culture, the Special Library participates in this new type of library work and provides, in return, the Sámi Area with its collect ion services. The Crossing Library has forwarded and made Sámi traditions visible. In a short time, the Crossing Library has arranged a tour called “The Singing Library” and an extensive exhibition on Sámi music. It has brought Sámi authors to villages in the library bus, having them tell about their production and lives during the visits. It has held fairy-tale, storytelling and game hours in the Sámi language. So far, the events have mostly been arranged in the region of Inari but in all the three Sámi languages of Finland: Skolt Sámi, Inari Sámi and North Sámi. The Crossing Library operates in the new Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos in Inari. In Sajos, there is also the library of the village of Inari, run by a Sámi librarian who knows the Sámi language.
