78 The cataloguing We follow the Norwegian cataloguing rules and the guidelines in the library system BIBSYS. The records contain valuable information to the users of the bibliography. There are notes telling which language is being used in the document, especially when it comes to the Sámi languages. The content is shortly presented in a note, if the title doesn’t disclose it. We also use a note on each analytical entry to describe the host document. It is a necessity when it comes to see the whole record as such and the relation between the analytical entry and the host or mother record if you like, no matter which library system is involved. Multilingual and other challenges A few years ago, in 2010, we moved the Norwegian Sámi Bibliography from one database and library system called MicroMarc, to another, our union catalog, BIBSYS. It comprises research and special libraries as well as the N ational Library’s catalogs and bibliographies. It was a smart thing to do, to reduce the parallel work in two different library systems, as we already produced our catalog of books and periodicals in BIBSYS. The documents were in fact tagged in both systems. Earlier, when we produced the bibliography in MicroMarc, we had to import the records to an extern database made by The National Library. This database was updated twice a year. So in fact the bibliographical information about Sámi relations was to be f ound three places. It was not specifically user-friendly. Nowadays the bibliography is instantly updated when we produce a record for the Sámi bibliography in BIBSYS.
