80 A Joint Nordic Sami Bibliography In August 2011 there was a meeting concerning a joint Sámi bibliography, where participants from various institutions in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Russia and United Kingdom were present. They all gave a short report of the situation for the Sámi bibliography in each country. At this meeting, Jonny Edvardsen from the National Library of Norway announced that the Minister of Culture in Norway had instructed the National Library to make a joint Sámi bibliography. A first step in this direction was the meeting in Helsinki on the 15th of August 2012, when the IFLA conference took place. Participants from Norway (The National Library of Norway), Sweden ( The National Library of Sweden) and Finland (Rovaniemi City Library and The National Library of Finland) were gathered to discuss the agenda which held the status of each country and whether such a joint Nordic Sámi bibliography is st ill relevant or not. The meeting concluded with a big yes. It was mentioned that not only the bibliographical information, but also the holdings were of great importance in this joint bibliography and should be disseminated if possible. The Russians from the Murmansk State Regional Universal Scientific Library unfortunately couldn’t participate in the meeting, but they sent information in advance about this matter, and made it clear that they supported a joint Nordic Sámi bibliography. So far The National Library of Norway has taken the responsibility of gathering and structuring the information about the different Sámi bibliographies and will soon send out information to the participant countries again.
